Shepherd’s really took care of me well. They made sure to get to know my goals and aesthetics and patiently walked me through the process to make sure I looked amazing.
Kent, Washington, DC
I didn’t know what I was missing until I made this purchase. All of my old suits feel like a heavy, wet, plastic bag in comparison.
Zach, St. Louis, MO
The nicest suit I’ve ever owned. Best place in KC to get a suit, hands down!

Custom clothing is perceived as a luxury. But historically, it’s how most clothing was made, and isn’t much more expensive than tailoring an off-the-rack item to properly fit.
Our No. 1 suits start at $1395 and increase depending on fabric selection. Our Signature suits are made with some of the best fabrics in the world and start at $3095.
For first-time customers, it takes about four-to-five weeks from the date of your fitting to the delivery of your garments.

Shepherd’s offers suits, tuxedos, blazers, sport coats, trousers, topcoats, and dress shirts. If you're looking to make something else—like a leather bag, shoes, or accessories—just ask. We’ve poured over thousands of items and partnered with the world’s finest craftsmen.
All of our made-to-measure garments are made in Portugal, using beautiful fabrics from across England and Italy.
Let’s start with what we mean by “canvas”. Jackets (suit, tuxedo, and sport jackets) are made with an interlining between the fabric on the outside (the one you see) and the lining on the inside of a garment (the shiny material that makes it easy to pull the jacket on).
Canvas is the material used to make that interlining, and it gives a jacket its shape and three-dimensionality. Like every other component used in our garments, our all-natural horse hair canvas is the best available.
Full canvassing is essential for making the finest jackets. In this fabrication the interlining extends through the entirety of the jacket’s front, creating shape and drape and resulting in a garment that molds to the body over time.
In a half-canvas construction the interlining extends halfway down the jacket’s front, from the shoulder to the center of the torso. Half-canvassing is a good option for more casual or lightweight jackets.
Our No. 1 make has a half-canvas construction, with fully canvassed available for a small fee. Our No. 2, No. 3, and Signature suits, tuxedos, and sports jackets all include a full-canvas build.
Fitting process
Fitting a shirt or jacket takes about 15 minutes; a suit 30 minutes, and a full consultation (including styling and customizations) about 90 minutes.
If you’re pressed for time, we can make it snappy—but we love to spend quality time with customers.
We offer fittings in our Kansas City showroom or virtually, in which case the finished garments will be shipped to you. With our Signature Garments, we’ll fly out to you to complete the fitting—no kidding.
We do not currently offer completely bespoke but are focused on delivering a best-in-class made-to-measure experience and will add bespoke in the future.
Materials
We’re able to customize most everything about our garments, from pockets to shoulder construction, threading to button selection. If you have a unique design in mind, we’re happy to discuss elbow patches, throat latches and other details that make your garment one-of-a-kind.
We source the best fabrics in the world, from centuries-old mills in England still utilizing manual looms and to Italian mills that offer vicuña (the “most luxurious fabric in tailoring”). Not to name drop, but our selection includes Loro Piana, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Caccioppoli, Harris Tweed, and Holland & Sherry, just to mention a few. The thousands of fabrics we carry have never met a request we couldn’t handle.
